Job Description Program Model

The medical and surgical intensive care unit is staffed and managed by PCCA and operates as a true intensivist program with the intensivist serving as head of the multidisciplinary team, overseeing all M/S ICU patients and working closely with surgeons, emergency medicine physicians, pulmonary medicine physicians, Hospitalists and support staff.

Program Model

The intensivst service provides 24-hour coverage in the M/S ICU. Intensivist physicians work a 7-day block of 12-hour day shifts 7am to 7pm with support provided by daytime APP's. At 7pm the intensivst and daytime APP's sign out to the night APP's who cover until 7am.

The Intermediate and Intermediate step-down ICU staffed by the Hospitalist team allows for easy transfers out of the ICU for lower acuity patients that still need close monitoring.

LTACH available in-hospital for patients with prolonged critical illness.

Schedule

The Intensivist will work two weeks a month, 26 weeks a year

  • A week of days, Monday through Sunday (7am to 7pm)
  • A week off
  • A week of days, Monday through Sunday (7am to 7pm)
  • A week off

** A one week a month, 14 week a year schedule option also available.
